In 1962 Don Richardson and his late wife, Carol Joy, arrived with their baby son Stephen--and the Gospel of Jesus Christ--among the headhunter-cannibal Sawi tribe of western New Guinea (now Papua, Indonesia). Steve and three more siblings born on the mission field learned the Sawi language and culture in ways that would shape the rest of their lives. A tribal custom Don witnessed led to a breakthrough for the Gospel by opening Sawi understanding to the significance of God giving His Son. These tools have inspired two more generations of missionaries to take the Gospel to other isolated tribes of the earth.
